Calls for teaching young adults interviewing, resume-writing, and workplace-readiness skills.

Brown said the number-one issue facing LaGrange is youth violence, adding that youth education is also important. He said he learned a lot about the youth from his work background. Brown said young adults need to be taught how to interview, how to write a resume and understand what is needed from them in the workforce.

Wants local residents equipped to fill jobs coming to Troup County and LaGrange.

“I would like to see jobs coming to Troup County and to stay in Troup County for as long as possible, and that Troup County and City of LaGrange's residents 100% control those jobs, meaning that we have a workforce that is equipped from all levels to be able to take any job that's coming to our city and perform at a high level, so that revenue continues to stay within our city and recycle within our city, and our youth violence will drop,” Brown said.

Wants to continue promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education in LaGrange.

Brown serves as the vice basileus of Alpha Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in LaGrange, and as the STEM chairman for the chapter and STEM committee member for the state of Georgia for the fraternity. “I want to continue to shine a light on STEM in our city. As the STEM chairman, my fraternity donated $1,000 to Clearview Elementary as a yearly endowment in the honor of late brother, Harvey Brown, and his wife Helen. We donated $1,500 to help start a Greenpower program at Berta Weathersbee Elementary and $750 to the Callaway and Ethel Kight Elementary Greenpower programs,” Brown said.

Prioritizes homeownership education on affordability, credit, employment, and bill payment over affordable-housing initiatives.

The candidates were asked if they have any plans or an initiative to help with affordable housing in LaGrange. Brown said affordable housing is tricky because affordable means different things to different people. “How do we put on a scale what can a homeowner afford?” Brown asked. “One of my main things is educating our people on being homeowners; that way they know what they can afford. It’s more of a program of teaching our aunts, our uncles, our kids on how to purchase or how to keep their credit straight, how to stay on their job, how to pay their bills on time. I look more to educating our people on purchasing a home instead of affordable housing. Because if you're working, you're paying your bills on time, you should be able to afford a home.”

Said reducing violence starts with supporting elementary-school youth through mentoring and community resources.

Brown said reducing violence starts with the youth at a very young age. “It starts with the elementary school kids. Those are the kids that I work with daily. Being a part of mentor groups such as 3D Empowerment, being a part of Parks and Rec as a lay coach, being a part of my fraternity, Omega Psi Phi fraternity, where we are out here every day in the community, providing resources,” Brown said, noting he recently led an initiative to give money to the school system to fund STEM programs at Berta Weathersbee Elementary, Clearview Elementary, Callaway Elementary and Ethel Kight Elementary.
