About Mike Gettis | Friends of Mike Gettis

I’m a husband, father of five, and grandfather of four. When our kids were young, we raised our family on far less than we make today, but we could still afford to get by and enjoy the simple things, whether that meant camping close to home or taking a trip to the Jersey Shore. Today, even with just the two of us, the cost of living feels out of control. For young families trying to build a life, it’s even harder

Oppose Democrat-led tax hikes like the proposed $3.2 billion in new taxes. Deliver real tax relief for working families and businesses by eliminating the state prepared food tax and reducing property taxes

Streamline permitting and cut red tape to help local entrepreneurs in our suburban districts thrive amid national inflation

What are your thoughts on the state budget process? What changes, if any, would you support so that the budget is enacted in a timely manner?
We need a balanced, responsible budget passed on time without reckless spending. The focus should be on smaller, smarter government, keeping taxes low, and cracking down on waste, abuse, and fraud so taxpayer dollars are spent carefully and transparently.

Education

Should the state legislature enact laws concerning the impacts on water, energy, or land use from the development and operation of data centers? Would state regulation of data center development and operation interfere with the authority of municipalities to establish ordinances under the MPC (Municipal Planning Code)?
Data centers should pay their own way. I support large load tariffs so massive energy users cover grid upgrades and do not pass costs onto families. We must protect local control, private property rights, and reliable energy while pushing back on mandates that raise costs and threaten jobs.

Promote private land stewardship and local control over radical climate mandates that kill jobs and raise our heating and cooling costs

Public Safety

What changes, if any, would you support to enable better access, ensure security, and support the processes of our elections?
Pennsylvania should require voter ID, proof of residency, and stronger ballot security measures. I support a system that makes it easy to vote and hard to cheat, with paper ballots and clear safeguards that restore confidence in our elections.
