Question 1: Recent polls show a majority of Pennsylvanians are increasingly worried about the high cost of utilities, groceries, gas and housing. What would you do to address those economic concerns?
Response: I would push for a temporary reduction in sales tax and gas tax, reduce state administrative fees and ease small-business fees and regulations to help lower their costs. I would expand state child care credits and assistance as well as food and LIHEAP programs.

Election 2026: The race to represent the 124th Legislative District

Response: I would push for a temporary reduction in sales tax and gas tax, reduce state administrative fees and ease small-business fees and regulations to help lower their costs. I would expand state child care credits and assistance as well as food and LIHEAP programs.

Additionally, we should assist local municipalities with updating zoning laws to prevent corporations and other large out-of-state investors from buying up real estate and driving up housing costs. We definitely need to streamline permit processes to help with the cost of housing.

We also need to be inviting multiple environmentally friendly energy sources to our area to reduce energy costs and increase the number of high-paying area jobs.

Funds to support the reductions and increased assistance can come from closing the Delaware tax loophole. If that happens, corporations can begin to pay their fair share. We can apply a severance tax, cut out the waste, fraud and abuse in our state and local government and stop subsidizing the fossil fuel industry.

This should include senior property tax relief as well as a severance tax on fracking and closing corporate tax loopholes.

Improved legislative regulations, including a more stringent anti price gouging policy and tax reform can address these issues.

Economy

Supports abortion access and patients' privacy and individual health care decision-making without government interference.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion is a personal and private healthcare choice, as such, it is something that needs to be decided privately by the patient and their medical provider. Thus, as an elected official and legislator, it is not my place to give opinion on someone's personal healthcare choice. It is only my place to provide legislation and support for constituents rights to privacy and rights to make their own responsible individual healthcare choices, without governmental interference in those decisions.

Tina Burns Candidate Profile

Supports government funding eligibility for abortion providers on the same basis as other health care providers.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Abortion providers are healthcare providers. As healthcare providers they should be eligible to receive government funding just as any other healthcare provider is.

Supports aid-in-dying laws that legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Abortion providers are healthcare providers. As healthcare providers they should be eligible to receive government funding just as any other healthcare provider is.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

Supports employer vaccine requirements when evidence shows an unvaccinated person poses a serious health risk and requirements do not discriminate.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Employers should be allowed to require when there is a purpose or scientific evidence that by not having them it will put the individual or others at risk for grave illness or worse, and when such requirements do not discriminate against a specific protected class. If an individual does not want to vaccinate, if a viable alternative is available it should be offered.

Healthcare

What do you see as the most pressing issues facing residents of your district, and how would you address them?
Affordable basic needs are a serious problem. Food, clean water, housing, and quality education should be attainable for all. I support Head Start programs to alleviate the high cost of child care and improve educational outcomes.

Supports school choice but opposes voucher programs and other programs that shift public-school funding to private schools.

I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.

Strongly Disagree

While I do strongly support school choice, I do not support voucher programs or any other programs that take away from the public school system and give to private schools.

Supports Head Start programs to reduce child care costs and improve educational outcomes.

Question 2: Artificial intelligence and the proliferation of massive data centers needed to power it have become major topics of discussion recently. What should government do to address the impact these centers have on local communities?
Response: I will advocate for a mandatory pause on data centers of at least six months to a year to allow the state and local governments to come up with a comprehensive plan for zoning and regulating these centers.

This plan should address controlling the number of such centers, their size, environmental impact, the cost borne by the community, energy demand and any other impacts they may have. The U.S. already has more than any other country with over 5,000 centers.

State should have learned its lesson from the fossil fuel industry on why legislation over environmentally impactful industries and projects is essential. That industry was left to its own monitoring for many years, and they left our state an environmental disaster with taxpayers stuck with the clean-up bills and healthcare costs from the negative impact of the pollution on human lives. State regulation should not interfere with municipalities. Legislation should be coordinated with municipalities to ensure that protections or restrictions set forth minimum standards for data center development. Municipalities should be allowed to supplement those standards in accordance with the MPC and municipal law.

Opposes blanket qualified immunity for police officers and supports investigating each case fully.

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Neutral

Each circumstance needs to be investigated fully and a blanket immunity should not apply.

Supports more mental health and community programs to assist police, but opposes funding them by reducing police department budgets.

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

While I strongly agree we need to dedicate and provide more mental health and community programs to assist police departments, I do strongly disagree that the funding for those services should come from the police departments which are already severely under funded.

Supports background checks, closing gun-show loopholes, red-flag laws, and a ban on assault rifles.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

We need to ensure responsible gun ownership, including back ground checks, closing gun show loop holes, red flag laws, and a ban on assault rifles.

Public Safety

What changes, if any, would you support to enable better access, ensure security, and support the processes of our elections?
Voting needs to remain in the hands and control of each state without any federal interference to ensure that our elections are free and fair. We also need to make sure that all election officials are non-partisan. Easier access through mail is a must and needs to be preserved.

Easier access through mail is a must and needs to be preserved. Online voting should be explored to determine if this can be done securely. Since other secured institutions, such as banking and tax administration, permit online transactions, online voting should at least be examined with the goal of increased voter participation so that more voices can be heard.

Supports state control of elections, nonpartisan election officials, and preserving mail voting access.
