A native of Piney Creek, NC, Beth Pugh Farrell developed a deep passion and appreciation for agriculture on her grandparents’ dairy and burley tobacco farms.  After college graduation, she worked for 8 years at the NC Agricultural Foundation, focusing on 4-H and Extension fundraising efforts. She holds a B.S. in Animal Science with a minor in Poultry Science from NC State University.

Beth and her husband, Kevin, reside in Cary, NC, and enjoy cheering for the NC State Wolfpack.

From growing up on my grandparents’ farms in Piney Creek, NC, to majoring in Animal Science at NC State, to serving as an Agricultural Programs Specialist at the NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, I have had opportunities to be actively engaged in agriculture throughout my professional and personal life. Encouraging the next generation of leaders is important to me, and I remain active with the NC 4-H and NC FFA programs. Additionally, I am owner/operator of Pack House Farm in Apex.

Beth Pugh Farrell is originally from Piney Creek, North Carolina. 2026 North Carolina General Election

Beth Pugh Farrell will continue to build on her contributions to the Wake Soil & Water Conservation District and continue to::

 CONERVE farmland across Wake County, including education and implementation of the recently revised and approved Wake County Farmland Preservation Plan.
 PRESERVE soil and water resources through voluntary cost-share programs with landowners - including ways to make these programs better and more relevant to the needs of landowners in a rapidly urbanizing county.
 COLLABORATE with stakeholders to use sound policy, governance, and fiscal management to best position Wake County's soil and water resources for the future - including strategic growth and development.
 EDUCATE the citizens of Wake County about the importance of soil and water conservation efforts and projects funded by the District.

Beth has worked to ensure that conservation cost-share programs will work for Wake County landowners, including leading efforts to implement water pilot programs and Agriculture Cost Share Program revisions to strengthen participation.

Beth is recognized as a local, regional and state leader in agriculture and conservation.  She has fiercely advocated for common sense conservation programs work for Wake County farmers and landowners, and was instrumental in the development and adoption of the revised Wake County Farmland Preservation Plan.

There are still nearly 700 family farms on almost 77,000 acres (an acre is roughly the size of a football field) in Wake County.  As a small farmer, I understand the challenges of starting a farm, including access to land.
We must plan for strategic growth and development, taking into consideration the impacts that it has on farmland and natural resources. We also need to take into consideration the impacts that stormwater and runoff from new development impact streams, creeks and rivers in the watershed.

Supports voluntary cost-share programs and technical assistance to reduce runoff impacts on agricultural and urban lands.

Even a summer thunderstorm can result in urban flooding.  This water has to flow somewhere, and voluntary cost-share programs and technical assistance focused on both agricultural and urban lands by the District can utilize scientifically proven practices to minimize negative impacts to the greatest extent possible.

Energy & the Environment

As a Supervisor, I will be an advocate for the work done by the District by taking personal responsibility to share what is being done – through speaking engagements with civic groups, school groups, and other interested citizens.
As an elected official, it will be my job to communicate and highlight projects, programs and opportunities in multiple ways.  With running for office, I established Facebook and Instagram accounts for campaign efforts.  These accounts will  keep content  focused on Wake Soil & Water Conservation District activities to further share work being done in our community around conservation.

Additionally, she wants people to understand how the District works.  It's non-partisan and non-policy making.  This isn't about agendas; it's about soil conservation and water quality efforts that benefit Wake County and all communities downstream.

- A soil and water conservation district supervisor is 1 member of a board of 5 supervisors that works to improve the soil and water quality in the county through education. 
- The board of supervisors provide technical and financial assistance to help land users maintain their land and surrounding ecosystems. 
- The board of supervisors design long term conservation programs that teach environmental care, pollution reduction, and provide incentives for using these practices, especially for agricultural workers. 
- The board of supervisors provide short term educational services like competitions, field days, and workshops to educate the public on conservation.
