John "Philip" Milam is originally from Blue Ridge, Georgia. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, a law degree from the University of Georgia, and a master's degree in Education from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. He and his wife live in Ellijay, Georgia, where they are active members of Autumn Ridge Community Church and have four adult children.
