Dana Barrett is from the suburbs of Philadelphia. She has a bachelor's degree in hospitality administration from Cornell University. She has a daughter.

Dana is a small business owner and a Fulton County Commissioner. She previously worked as a tech executive, including as vice president of technology, and later started her own tech consulting firm. She also opened a bookstore and coffee shop in downtown Roswell, Georgia. Dana has also worked in media, including hosting a daily talk radio show and serving as a TV host for a local NBC affiliate. 

Dana is currently serving as the Fulton County Commissioner for District 3. She was elected in 2020 and is currently serving her first term. She was also the 2020 Democratic nominee for U.S. Congress for Georgia's 11th District.
