Chase Oliver is a 38-year-old Libertarian activist living in Atlanta. Dubbed “…the most influential Libertarian in America…” by Rolling Stone, Oliver is a champion of the rights of the individual against the growing power of the state. He began his political activism opposing the War in Iraq under George Bush, aligning with the Libertarian Party after an encounter at the Atlanta Pride Festival in 2010.

## He’s out

Georgia Libertarians are facing another setback in their quest for a spot on the November ballot.
Chase Oliver, the party’s nominee for governor, said he is suspending his campaign to focus on work and family. He said he is still paying off debts from his 2024 presidential campaign, when he was the Libertarian nominee, and can’t give the governor’s race the attention it demands.
“I have found that due to the commitment to my work and ultimately the commitment to my family that I cannot give the full-throated campaign I thought I could for governor of Georgia,” said Oliver, who was also the party’s 2022 U.S. Senate nominee, in a video posted on YouTube.

Endorsement chaos sows confusion in Georgia’s Republican U.S. Senate runoff

In 2020 he ran for Congress in Georgia’s 5th district to complete the term of the late civil rights icon John Lewis. In 2022, he ran for US Senate, debating incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker’s empty podium. Oliver was widely credited with causing the runoff election between Warnock and Walker.

Chase was the Libertarian Party’s 2024 presidential nominee. He previously ran for U.S. Senate in 2022 and for Congress in Georgia’s 5th District in 2020.

AS PRESIDENT:

Tariffs are a form of embargo on domestic laborers and consumers, raising the costs of doing business for importers who pass these added costs onto end-buyers.

I will strongly urge Congress to work with each state to introduce and pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, forever ending the perpetual cycle of deficit spending. 
LIMIT FEDERAL EXPENDITURE

Supports eliminating direct federal taxation of individuals and entities.

ELIMINATE THE IRS
Federal government revenue shall be received only from State governments. The Federal government shall have no direct taxation authority over any individual person or entity.

Advocates for phasing out Social Security and other social programs while protecting people who currently depend on them.

We will end that failing Social Security program, and other social programs, and allow the market to provide better solutions. Of course, we understand that there are currently individuals who depend on these programs, and/or are near retirement and are dependent on them. For this reason, we will arrange for these programs to be phased out over a period of time, to avoid harm to those who currently need them to simply survive, while giving plenty notice to others to arrange their affairs accordingly.

Economy

Supports abolishing the U.S. Department of Education and returning its funds to taxpayers through state block grants.

At the federal level, the best policy on education is to remove the federal government’s involvement. I support abolishing the Department of Education and block granting those funds back to states to be returned to taxpayers. I also support getting the government out of the student loan business so market forces can lower the cost of higher education over time.

Advocates for attaching public K-12 funding to individual students, allowing public schools to phase out, and eliminating public higher-education funding.

ALLOW PHASE-OUT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION

Public funding of primary and secondary education shall be attached to each child, in full measure per pupil equal to the funding of public schools. Public schools will be allowed to phase-out under competitive pressures. Public funding of higher education, including student loans shall be eliminated.

Plans to end federal backing for future student loans, make current loans interest-free, and allow student debt to be discharged in bankruptcy.

AS PRESIDENT:
I will immediately end the Federal backing of student loans by asking Congress to make all current loans interest-free, while simultaneously ending all future government-guaranteed loans.
I would then make the discharge of interest revenue neutral by requiring the Department of Defense to cut costs by closing overseas bases and installations and bringing our troops home, instead of engaging in expensive nation-building and peacekeeping missions abroad.

Finally, I would allow students to stabilize their financial situations by allowing student loan debt to be dischargeable in bankruptcy just like any other loan. I want a well-educated populace that can compete with the minds of any other nation, but not at the cost of our nation’s financial and retirement security.

Education

Supports decriminalizing abortion and protecting access before viability, leaving medical decisions to individuals and their doctors.

We will deschedule marijuana immediately and work towards the decriminalization of all drugs.
We will encourage states to decriminalize abortions. These medical decisions should be left to the individuals and their doctors. Also, encourage alternatives to abortion, such as adoption by easing the regulations that greatly increases the cost of adoption.

No government authority shall exist to regulate individual activity. No government shall have the authority to impose a penalty of death, bail out corporations, criminalize the use of drugs or other substances, inhibit access to abortion before viability, regulate employment practices, draft into military service, tax individual entities, coerce vaccination or medical treatment, or coerce censorship of any privately controlled mode of communication.

Advocates for direct primary care, ending patent evergreening, broader Health Savings Accounts, interstate insurance sales, drug imports, and fewer coverage mandates.

Healthcare is too expensive because of government overregulation. We should advocate for market alternatives to heavily regulated employer-provided insurance such as the Direct Primary Care model. We should also reform how we bring new drugs to market and end practices such as patent evergreening which keep the cost of too many drugs artificially high. With more choices and free market forces, we will see a drop in the cost of healthcare overall.

AS PRESIDENT:
I would urge Congress to remove limits on Health Savings Accounts. Currently, these tax-deductible accounts are capped at $4,150 per year for individuals or $8,300 for families. This fails to cover the cost of healthcare in America, which averages $13,493 a year per individual.

I would end the practice of evergreen patents, which create artificial product monopolies that keep prices high. While I understand the need for firms to protect their profits, competition would result in better versions of already existing medications, greater innovation, and lower prices.
Allow sale of insurance across state lines.
Allow import of drugs, so US firms can’t charge inflated prices here and cheaper prices abroad.
Remove coverage mandates, which force individuals to pay for coverage they don’t want or need 
Make all health care expenses fully tax deductible, whether or not they are paid by an employer.

Healthcare

Advocates for abolishing the death penalty at the federal and state levels.

AS PRESIDENT:
The death penalty is an aberration of justice; just as no citizen has the right to murder another, no government has the right to murder its citizens. Death is final; an individual exonerated after execution has still been executed. Of nearly 1800 individuals sentenced to death since 1973, 200 have been found wrongly convicted and released. We will immediately end the death penalty at the Federal level and work towards legislation to abolish it at the state level as well.

Plans to deschedule marijuana, decriminalize all drugs, and end prosecution of victimless crimes.

With slightly more than 4% of the world’s population, our nation is responsible for a quarter of the globe’s inmate population. Roughly 44% of Federal prisoners are incarcerated for drug related offenses, while the share of state and local inmates housed for drug related offenses is 25%. We will deschedule marijuana immediately and work towards the decriminalization of all drugs.
We will encourage states to decriminalize abortions.

MY ADMINISTRATION WOULD:
End Federal mandatory minimum sentencing which ties the hands of judges and compels even some who are innocent to plead guilty to avoid the possibility of lengthy incarceration. A wealth of evidence demonstrates that mandatory minimums accelerate prison growth with no overall benefit to crime control. By legislatively mandating punishment, we have taken discretion out of the hands of judges and juries where they rightly belong.
End the prosecution of victimless crimes and instead place the focus of law enforcement on investigating and prosecuting crimes of violence, theft, fraud, or coercion.

Plans to end qualified immunity for federal law-enforcement officers.

AS PRESIDENT:
End qualified immunity for federal law enforcement so those abused or harmed by law enforcement can have their day in court. While this judge-created rule that allows public officials to escape civil liability for the abuse of citizens’ rights is most often exercised at the state and local levels to shield rogue police officers, making Federal agents liable for abuses of power would allow us to place pressure on state and local officials to follow suit.

Opposes new gun restrictions and supports repealing existing restrictions.

AS PRESIDENT:
I will not support any new gun restrictions and will look to repeal the restrictions that exist today.
I will nominate to the judiciary judges committed to protecting the right of all persons to defend themselves from aggression.

Public Safety

Supports nuclear power as a cleaner and more efficient alternative to fossil fuels, alongside solar and wind energy.

Chase Oliver champions a market- and community-based approach to environmental stewardship, targeting authoritarian government policies as the root cause of ecological degradation rather than attempting to mend inefficient regulations with more red tape.

Energy & the Environment

Supports term limits for federal officials through a constitutional amendment.

Chase supports term limits for all federal officials—elected or appointed—to keep government fresh and accountable. Term limits ensure new perspectives and reduce wasteful spending, while agency leaders must face regular reviews for reappointment.

No state shall require payment for appropriate identification to vote, or the underlying documents required for such identification. No state shall prohibit a nonincarcerated citizen from voting due to criminal history or record. No state shall restrict any registered voter from requesting an absentee ballot.

No state shall prohibit or hinder any citizen from accessing current voter registration lists. Any state that uses electronic voting machines shall use end-to-end encryption on all voting software and systems, and shall have a printed record of each electronic vote.

Supports easier paths to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, residents eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and children of temporary foreign workers.

AS PRESIDENT, I WOULD:

Create a simpler path to citizenship for immigrants who are already here. Some eight million undocumented immigrants are currently present in our labor force, doing essential jobs, paying payroll taxes, and contributing to our economic growth.

Create a path to citizenship for both DACA-eligible residents and the children of foreign workers admitted to the US on temporary work visas. These immigrants often lose their legal status upon turning 21, robbing us of individuals educated here in America with something to offer our society.

Supports expanding H-1B and startup visas for skilled immigrants.

Expand both the H1B visa and startup visa, which allows skilled immigrants to bring their talent and innovation to our shores. These individuals add to our economy by starting new businesses and putting more Americans to work.

Plans to close overseas military bases and return active-duty personnel to domestic bases.

AS PRESIDENT:
Close all overseas bases and immediately return active-duty personnel to domestic bases. The cost savings of doing so will be used as a one-time contribution to discharge the interest on currently outstanding Federally guaranteed student loans.

- The Governor is similar to the President of the United States: they oversee the executive branch, sign bills into law and then enforce these laws, and act as the commander-in-chief of the state military.
- The Governor has a large influence over which new laws get passed because they can veto any legislation. Georgia lawmakers can only override a veto with a two-thirds majority in the State House and State Senate.
- The Governor appoints heads of various judicial and state offices including the: Department of Education, Department of Human Resources, Department of Public Safety, Department of Transportation, Department of Community Health, Department of Economic Development, and the Department of Natural Resources.
In case a state representative is not able to complete their term, the Governor can appoint a replacement until the end of the term. 
- The Governor is elected every 4 years in midterm election years (e.g., 2022, 2026, 2030). If a governor serves for eight years (two terms in a row), they must wait another four years before running again.
