2026 Georgia General Election

Chase Oliver is a 38-year-old Libertarian activist living in Atlanta. Dubbed “…the most influential Libertarian in America…” by Rolling Stone, Oliver is a champion of the rights of the individual against the growing power of the state. He began his political activism opposing the War in Iraq under George Bush, aligning with the Libertarian Party after an encounter at the Atlanta Pride Festival in 2010.

## He’s out

Georgia Libertarians are facing another setback in their quest for a spot on the November ballot.
Chase Oliver, the party’s nominee for governor, said he is suspending his campaign to focus on work and family. He said he is still paying off debts from his 2024 presidential campaign, when he was the Libertarian nominee, and can’t give the governor’s race the attention it demands.
“I have found that due to the commitment to my work and ultimately the commitment to my family that I cannot give the full-throated campaign I thought I could for governor of Georgia,” said Oliver, who was also the party’s 2022 U.S. Senate nominee, in a video posted on YouTube.

In 2020 he ran for Congress in Georgia’s 5th district to complete the term of the late civil rights icon John Lewis. In 2022, he ran for US Senate, debating incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker’s empty podium. Oliver was widely credited with causing the runoff election between Warnock and Walker.

Chase was the Libertarian Party’s 2024 presidential nominee. He previously ran for U.S. Senate in 2022 and for Congress in Georgia’s 5th District in 2020.

Rick Jackson

- The Governor is similar to the President of the United States: they oversee the executive branch, sign bills into law and then enforce these laws, and act as the commander-in-chief of the state military.
- The Governor has a large influence over which new laws get passed because they can veto any legislation. Georgia lawmakers can only override a veto with a two-thirds majority in the State House and State Senate.
