Before entering politics, King worked as a New York City Child Protective Caseworker. In 2007, he became the Bronx Lead Organizer for the 1199SEIU/GNYHA Healthcare Education Project.
Political background
Andy King first ran for City Council in 2009, but did not win. He then won a special election following the resignation of Larry Seabrook and served as a member of the New York City Council representing District 12 from 2012 to 2020. He was expelled by the City Council in October 2020 following ethics violations.
