Malcolm is from Pennsylvania. He earned his bachelor's degree in public communications from Temple University and his master's degree in strategic and digital communications from Drexel University. He lives with his husband, Matthew, in North Philadelphia. 

Malcolm previously worked as a coordinator at the Graduate Medical Education Department at Hahnemann University Hospital and as the diversity and inclusion engagement coordinator for the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia.

Malcolm Kenyatta currently serves as a state representative for Pennsylvania House District 181.  He was first elected in 2018 and is in his 3rd term. He previously ran for US senator for Pennsylvania in 2022, but did not win.
