Elizabeth Y. Shamahs' campaign for civil court judge in New York County is her first run for public office.

Elizabeth works as a deputy chief court attorney for the New York County Supreme Court where she previously worked as a special referee. She has also worked as a support magistrate for New York County Family Court and Kings County Family Court. Previously, she worked as an administrative law judge for the New York State Office of Temporary and disability assistance office of Administrative Hearing, as an assistant advocate for the New York Police Department, and as special assistant corporation counsel for the New York City Human Resources Administration.

Elizabeth is from Savanah, Georgia. She earned her bachelor's degree in political science and French from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a law degree from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. She has been active in the community, serving as a high school mock trial coach and judge and volunteering with Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT) Judge for a Day Program.
