Cynthia Ball currently serves as a state representative in District 49. She was elected to this position in 2016 and is serving her fourth term. She currently serves as the Democratic Conference Chair. She previously served as co-chair of the House Democratic Caucus Campaign and vice chair of the Education Appropriations Shadow Committee.

Cynthia owns a consulting business, Cynthia Ball Consulting. She previously worked as a director of external affairs at North Carolina State University.

Cynthia is from Franklin County. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a master's of business administration degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Cynthia also attended North Carolina State University. She is married to her husband, David, with whom she has 3 stepchildren and 6 stepgrandchildren.
