Cynthia Ball was born in Franklin County and graduated as valedictorian from her public school in Franklinton. She attended UNC-Greensboro on a full academic scholarship, earning a BA in Psychology, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and later earned an MBA at Virginia Commonwealth University. Information about her current residence, church attendance, or family details, other than her marriage to Dr. David E. Aspnes, is not provided.

Cynthia Ball has worked in marketing research after earning her MBA at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has held positions at William Peace University and NC State University, directing their Development and External Affairs programs, and served as the Executive Director of one of NC State University’s foundations.
