Phyllis is a lifelong resident of North Carolina. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Eastern Carolina University, a master’s degree in public administration from North Carolina Central University, a master's degree in divinity from Shaw University, and a doctorate degree in Biblical studies from New Life Bible College and Seminary. Phyllis is an ordained minister and a parent.
