Melanie is originally from Concord, and later moved to Charlotte. She is married, and has 5 children. Melanie has a bachelor's degree in music with a minor in history and English. 

Melanie is a musician and teacher. She worked as adjunct faculty  with Gardner-Webb University for 25 years.
