Catherline has a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in counselor education from Appalachian State University, as well as a certificate of advanced study in counselor education and master's degree in school administration from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She has 2 children.

Catherine currently works with Moore Advocacy for Children, helping parents navigate the public school system. She previously worked as an educator for 35 years, serving as a teacher and school counselor in Cabarrus County Schools (CCS). During her time at CCS, she served as Chair for MTSS/504's and as an LEA for the exceptional children's program.
