Mike attended the University of Montana, receiving a Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology. He is married to his wife, and together they have five children. He is a Senior Pastor of the Montana Family Church in Billings, Montana.

Mark H Nicholson was born in Glendive and later moved to Helena, Montana, where he graduated from high school and then attended Carroll College. Mark has a medical background, having attended medical school at the University of Washington and completed residency training as a family physician at the University of Utah. He later retrained in psychiatry at the University of Washington. He has been married to Laura R. Nicholson since 1985, and they have three children. 

In Billings, he worked at the Mental Health Center and also opened a solo private practice. He has had privileges at both Billings Clinic and St Vincents Healthcare, and has provided care in various units including psychiatric, emergency, medical-surgical, pediatric, and intensive care units.
