Alana Sanders has been serving as the Newton County Commissioner since 2021.

Alana is a former college business chair and currently works as a college professor, specializing in business and marketing. She also works as a corporate wellness coordinator for Get Pulsed, LLC and works in various other roles involving personal fitness.

Alana has a daughter. She earned her bachelor's degree in mass communications from Grambling University, her master's degree in human resources management/personnel administration, an MBA from American InterContinental University, and a Ph.D. in applied management and decision science from Walden University. She also has various certifications, such as a paralegal certification from Georgia Piedmont Technical College and a national group fitness license from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).
