He is married to his wife, Rebecca, with whom they have three children. Their family are members of Centennial Baptist Church in Rutledge. He served as a coach for baseball, football, and softball in Morgan County.

Ryan is a retired law enforcement professional. He held positions with the Lawrenceville Police Department as Captain and Lieutenant. He previously served as a Police Officer with the Madison Police Department.
