She lives with her husband, Jeff, in Suwannee, Georgia.

Professional background

Prior to Congress, Carolyn worked at Georgia State University as an Associate Professor, and as a Director to the Center for State and Local Finance. She previously worked at the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management and the Georgia Senate Budget and Evaluation Office. She also worked for Sarah J. Siwek and Associates and Senator Ron Wyden as a Legislative Assistant.

Political background

Supports expanding Medicaid in Georgia.

As a Representative, she authored and introduced HR 4595. This bill would allow the Department of Health and Human Services to provide health benefits within Medicaid in states that have not expanded Medicaid. This bill has not made it to a vote.

As a Representative, she opposed efforts to weaken move Georgia away from the healthcare.gov marketplace. With Senators Warnock and Ossoff, she led a letter to keep the ACA website running in Georgia.
