Judge Ashley Wright is Superior Court Judge in the Superior Court of the Augusta Judicial Circuit. As a Superior Court Judge, Judge Wright presides over criminal and civil matters. She presides over criminal felony cases and some other criminal matters. She presides over divorce, equity (cases involving remedies other than monetary damages), and title of land cases as well as some other civil matters.

Previously, Judge Wright served as Augusta’s District Attorney. As District Attorney, she was elected to oversee the prosecution of criminal cases in Augusta. Prosecutors represent the State of Georgia in criminal trials and proceedings. DAs also have the power to choose which charges are filed against an individual accused of a crime, and can set office-wide prosecution policies.

- Georgia Superior Court Judges hear a wide range of criminal cases from petty theft and public drunkenness to murder. Some cases in front of the Georgia Superior Court involve the death penalty. 
- On the civil side, Superior Court Judges hear cases on divorce, titles to land, contract disputes, and premises liability. 
- Superior Court Judges are elected by judicial circuit. Each county surrounding Atlanta has its own judicial circuit, while rural judicial districts typically consist of multiple counties.
- Superior Court Judges are elected to four year terms. Elections are nonpartisan. The Governor can appoint Superior Court Judges when vacancies arise.
