Saira is from Georgia. She attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and has a law degree from Georgetown University. She lives in the Atlanta area with her family.

Saira is a civil rights lawyer. She works for the Southern Poverty Law Center. Previously, she was in the US Peace Corps.
