Personal background
Tamara has lived in Atlanta for the past 30 years. She moved to the city in 1991 to get a master's degree at Georgia Tech. Her oldest children graduated from Atlanta Public Schools in 2020 and 2021, while her youngest child will start 8th grade this fall at David T. Howard.
Professional background
Tamara is an architect and urban planner. She has been involved on Community Master Planning projects throughout the metro area including Campbellton Road and Crabapple. She has served on the SPLOST Oversight Committee, the Excellent Schools Committee, and the District Executive Committee for Atlanta Public Schools. She has also served on Local School Councils and GO Teams for over a decade at the elementary, middle and high school level, most recently as Chair of the Grady (now Midtown) GO Team, and on the Cluster Advisory Team.

Tamara Jones' campaign for the board of education is her first entry into politics.
