Abbie is currently a member of the Houston city council. She was first elected in 2020 and is serving her second term.

Prior to her election to Council, Kamin practiced law focusing on general civil, voting rights, and civil rights litigation, including involvement in voting rights and Title IX challenges. She served as Associate Regional Director for the Anti-Defamation League’s SW Region and held positions as a Committee Director and Clerk at the Texas Legislature. Kamin earned her JD, cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law, and her BA, cum laude, from Tulane University.

As an attorney, researched, drafted, and filed legal documents; provided defense and counsel to clients; and practiced law focused on general civil, voting rights, and civil rights litigation, including involvement in voting rights and Title IX challenges.
