Byron Hanssen is originally from Seabrook, Texas. He earned an associate's degree in general studies from San Jacinto College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and a law degree from South Texas College of Law Houston. Byron volunteered on the Livable Centers Study, served as Chair of the Civil Service Commission, and recently the Planning and Zoning Commission in Seabrook.

Byron currently works as an arbitrator and attorney at Hanssen Law and as managing member and general counsel of Beacon Hill Hospitality in Seabrook, Texas. He previously served as an attorney advisor at the United States Small Business Administration and as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston. Earlier in his career he served as a law clerk at the Texas Attorney General's office, at Bailey Peavy Bailey Cowan Heckaman and at Petry Law Firm, as well as an international trade assistant at the United States Commercial Service. Earlier in his career Byron worked as environmental technician at Emission Monitoring Service and as a bank teller at Johnson Space Center Federal Credit Union.

Byron's current campaign for Seabrook City Council is his first run for elected public office.
