Dana Collins lives in Irving, Texas. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Notre Dame, his master's degree from the Texas McCombs School of Business, and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He lives with his wife and their three children.

Dana currently works as a director of general counsel with Lockheed Martin's Integrated Fighter Group. He previously worked as a litigation counsel at Raytheon, a chief legal officer at Draken International, a senior counsel for North American at Guest, Keen, and Nettlefolds (GKN) Aerospace, and an associate attorney at Odin, Feldman and Pittleman, P.C. He served as a deputy command judge advocate and a litigation attorney in the U.S. Army for four years.

Dana's campaign for Irving, Texas, City Council is his first campaign for public office.
