Ethics & Conduct
In January 2019, Beckie resigned as mayor pro tem of Forest Hill shortly before a scheduled public hearing to determine whether she had misused city funds. Beckie and then-Mayor Lyndia Thomas were accused of being improperly reimbursed for $545 in tickets to attend a Michelle Obama book tour event in Dallas. Beckie stated that the reimbursement had been approved by the city manager and that the money was returned once objections were raised. She denied the allegations, saying they had no substance.
