They have systematically cut the funding to our public schools, and it was all an attempt to get this voucher bill passed that none of us want. The people that wouldn't vote for that voucher bill, and the Republicans that wouldn't do that — Tim Dunn and Ferris Wilkes, and the money people in the money PACs in Texas, they primaried those people. They've been pushing this for a decade before they got it, maybe longer than that.

MRT: What is the primary platform you hope to base a potential term in office around?
Broadrick: Like my (promotional) card says, my priorities are strong public schools. I am deeply offended by what Tom Craddick and the Republicans in the House and the Senate and this governor (Greg Abbott) have done to our public school systems in Midland, Texas. I think education is the key to us growing a strong economy, a strong future, and we have to help everybody get better, and if we don't start with schools, then we're not doing right.
