Upon completing his military service, Ray attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a pre-med degree in 1995. He returned to his hometown to continue his medical education at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston. Dr. Callas eventually landed in Beaumont in 2004, completing his education and becoming a board-certified anesthesiologist in 2006.

In 2017, he became a partner and owner at Kare Infusion Center and continues to serve patients in regional hospitals and care centers.

A: Some of my big stances, I’m very pro-life. I’m (in support of) keeping women in women’s sports, not having men cross over to women’s sports. I’m very big into making sure that the science and data that we put out there guide our treatment modalities, not just politics.

Q: So are there any exceptions where you think abortion is the right choice?
A: I believe that abortion is the right choice when the mother’s life needs to be saved. Also, I’m a little different than what everyone believes related to abortion…So my big thing is that we have to come up with a mechanism where…if someone’s been raped, incest, (or some tragedy like that), you should be allowed (to stop the process of) impregnation…I’m tired of the term abortion. I believe in non-viable pregnancy. That’s a totally different conversation.
