Tom was raised right here in HD 128. Growing up in Deer Park and attending La Porte schools, he learned early the value of hard work, faith, and service.

Meet Tom

Growing up in Deer Park and attending La Porte schools, he learned early the value of hard work, faith, and service. From College Park Elementary through La Porte High School, and later San Jacinto College and the University of Houston, this community shaped who Tom is, and it’s why he’s committed to serving it today.

Tom holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Computer Information Systems and Accounting, and he’s built a career grounded in both private sector experience and community leadership.

His wife, Linda Garcia, serves our community as a Harris County Court Judge. They are blessed with one son, who graduated from Texas A&M University in December 2024. Together, they make their home in Deer Park, where their roots run deep and their commitment to this community is lifelong.

Tom Butler was raised in Deer Park. He attended San Jacinto College and the University of Houston and holds dual bachelor's degrees in computer information systems and accounting. He is married to Linda Garcia and has one son.

He later served in Harris County Adult Probation, spending several years in the Sex Crimes division, before moving into industry and eventually starting his own small business.

Tom ran Centrifuge Services Inc., a local centrifuge pump sales and service shop in La Porte, before selling the company and serving as Director of Religious Education at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church.

Today, he is proud to serve as President of USI Federal Credit Union in La Porte.

Property taxes are crushing Texas homeowners and turning them into renters from the government. I will work to cut property taxes (not just slow their growth), rein in runaway appraisals, and push for lasting reforms that let Texans keep more of what they earn and truly own their property.

Texas families have to live within a budget, and government should too. I will oppose runaway spending at the state and local level, demand transparency in how tax dollars are used, and make sure taxpayer money is going to core services, not bloated bureaucracy. We need to DOGE Texas and I will lead day one on this critical reform.

Families along the coast of the Gulf of America are being crushed by skyrocketing windstorm and flood insurance rates, with TWIA premiums rising faster than most homeowners can afford. I will fight to keep coverage affordable, demand accountability and transparency from TWIA, and push for reforms that bring real competition and relief to Texas families. No one should be priced out of their home simply because they live near the coast.

I applaud the Legislature’s new school choice program, and I will champion expanding it so every child has access to the best education possible, whether that’s public, private, charter, or homeschool. Education dollars should follow the student, not the system.
