Roderick is a justice of the peace. He works at Fort Bend County Justice Court, Precinct 2, Place 1, where he has been since his election in November 2022. He previously served as chief deputy for the Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office for four years, and before that as a captain in the Waller County Constable’s Office while attending Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He also taught criminal justice courses at Colorado Technical University and training academy courses for peace officers. Earlier, he spent ten years as an English teacher and head baseball coach at Willowridge High School. He began his career with six months as a state parole officer and then joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1994 as a trooper and later as a narcotics sergeant and investigator on a federal drug task force.

Roderick C. Garner, Sr. is currently Justice of the Peace for Fort Bend County, Precinct 2, Place 1. He was first elected in 2022 and is serving his first term.

As a chief deputy, managed the budget and finances, oversaw civil and criminal process serving, maintained court and law enforcement records, and supervised and trained lower-ranking staff.

Roderick is from Foster Place, Houston, Texas. He attended The Willowridge High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston–Downtown and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Colorado Technical University. He lives with his wife, Cynthia, and their blended family of four children and nine grandchildren.
