Kaufman County officials sworn in to office

KAUFMAN, Texas — Kaufman County elected officials were sworn in at the Courthouse during a New Year’s Day ceremony Tuesday morning.

Outgoing County Judge Bruce Wood installed incoming County Judge Hal Richards who proceeded over the swearing in of county officials.

New officials sworn in included county treasurer Chuck Mohnkern, Commissioner Pct.4 Ken Cates and Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Amy Tarno.

New officials terms are effective immediately, and while County offices are closed today, most will reopen tomorrow for normal business.

As county treasurer, Chuck Mohnkern reported that 76.19% of county cash was invested and American National Bank deposits were collateralized at 167%.

TOTAL FUNDS IN AMERICAN NATIONAL BANK, 26.69 MILLION.
UH, VALUE OF THE COLLATERAL AT THE END OF THE MONTH, 44.6 MILLION.
SO WE WERE COLLATERALIZED BY THE BANK AT 167%, WHICH IS VERY GOOD.
WE HAD 76.19% OF OUR, UH, CASH INVESTED DURING THE MONTH.
WROTE 112 RECEIPTS FOR $2.2 MILLION DURING THE MONTH.
