2026 Texas General Election

What should League City’s budget priorities be?
Our budget should prioritize public safety, roads, drainage, mobility, water and wastewater infrastructure, and maintaining the assets we already own. We have to continue being responsible with taxpayer dollars, eliminate unnecessary spending where we can, and continue working to keep the tax burden on our residents as low as possible.

What do you see as the greatest challenge for the city, and how will you improve it?
One of our greatest challenges is managing growth while protecting the quality of life our residents expect. We have to plan ahead for roads, drainage, water and wastewater, and public safety so we are not constantly playing catch-up or leaving existing residents to carry the cost.

Calls for planning infrastructure ahead of growth to avoid shifting costs to existing residents.

Housing & Urban Development

What would your top priorities be if elected?
My priorities are fiscal responsibility, keeping taxes as low as possible, supporting police, fire and EMS, improving roads, drainage and mobility, and managing growth responsibly. League City will continue to grow, and we have to make sure our infrastructure and public safety resources keep up with that growth.

There have been discussions about putting another bond before League City voters. What projects should be included in the bond?
First, I am not in favor of another bond project. If, and that is a major if, another bond project was approved by council and came before voters, I would want that money for the following reasons: first, cover any shortfalls of the current bond project; second, additional traffic/mobility issues that were not identified or included in the previous bond project; third, possible expansion of city facilities on the West Side of the city ...

Council member Sean Saunders, who voted against increasing the fees, said he understood the city’s decision to charge Dickinson fees due to the large number of calls, but pointed out that other cities do not do so.

“No other city charges each other for mutual aid throughout Galveston County,” said Saunders, who has served in the Baytown Fire Department since 2000. “The only two [agencies] that do are Galveston County and League City, who charges Dickinson.”

Saunders said he opposed higher fees, especially for mass-casualty calls that require more than one agency to respond.

Saunders said he worried that if League City increases its fees, Dickinson might opt to seek aid from cities farther away, putting victims in life-threatening situations at risk, where time is of the essence.

“A month ago, Dickinson had a shooting that involved seven people,” Saunders said. “League City transported two of those people, so League City would have made $3,500 off of a shooting that nobody, including the leadership of Dickinson, could have accounted for.”
