Omy Maldonado is a lifelong Lehigh Valley resident, husband, father of three, volunteer youth coach, and United States Marine Corps veteran running for State Senate in Pennsylvania’s 14th Senatorial District, representing Lehigh and Northampton Counties.

Omy honorably served eight years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two overseas deployments. Even while serving, he remained committed to education—earning his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina – Beaufort in 2017 and 2021 completing his MBA at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. His military service instilled a deep sense of accountability, leadership, and responsibility to those he serves.

Raised with strong values centered on family, faith, hard work, and service, Omy has built his life around giving back to the community he proudly calls home. He is married to his high school sweetheart of 16 years and together are raising their three children.

Today, Omy works as a technology consultant and volunteers his time by coaching youth football, basketball, and baseball. He is running for the Pennsylvania State Senate because families across the region are being squeezed by rising costs, taxes, and failing governmental policies.

2026 Pennsylvania General Election

Maldonado: “Pennsylvania doesn’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem.” Points to the 18% increase in the state budget over the last four years but says his personal income hasn’t risen that much. “So to increase and continue to increase year after year, I think is the problem, the reason why we see things being unaffordable.” (While the budget has gone up, lawmakers did not raise taxes to cover the increase.)
Says the government should have programs to root out wasteful spending. Says Pennsylvania’s gas tax, which is 57.6 cents on each gallon and is among the highest in the nation, is the reason gas costs so much.

Economy

Maldonado: Says he supports public schools and charter schools. “To continue to throw money when a situation may not necessarily be giving parents the return on investment that they need, I think the answer isn’t throwing money at it, but opening up competition and understanding that other options for parents may be another answer.”
Maldonado: Endorsed by the National Rifle Association.

Advocates for more competition among schools and other options for parents rather than increased spending when schools do not deliver sufficient value.

Maldonado: “My thought on ICE would be just making sure that the government’s No. 1 role is to keep us safe. And if there are people here who aren’t supposed to be here, who are here to hurt us in our community, then we should be working with the communities to ensure that they’re getting out of here.”
