2026 Pennsylvania General Election

“Governor Josh Shapiro’s latest budget proposal is a wake-up call: it could mean a 52% jump in your income taxes. That is a massive hit to your paycheck. There is a better option—a $47.9 billion budget keeps your taxes steady, stops reckless spending and puts Pennsylvania back on solid ground. I am asking you to tell your lawmakers: Hold the line at $47.9.”

Hold the Line

HARRISBURG – York County’s House Republican lawmakers today issued a joint statement in response to the passage of the 2026-27 state budget. The lawmakers include Reps. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover), Mike Jones (R-York Township), Joe D’Orsie (R-Manchester), Wendy Fink (R-Red Lion), Marc Anderson (R-Dillsburg), and George H. Margetas (R-West Manchester). “Families and businesses must live within their means and spend only what they have when they budget, but once again we’ve not adopted this principle in Harrisburg. We voted “no” on this year’s budget because rather than scale back irresponsible spending, we’ve burdened tomorrow’s taxpayers with a steep bill.”

While the 10-year partnership with USGS to monitor York County streams and river sections has reached its midway point, the data reveals huge discrepancies with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) figures which are based on computer modeling. We also commend DEP for its public statement of support for the efforts by York County to ascertain real data which show water quality improvements over time. We welcome DEP “working with York, utilizing that data to demonstrate Pennsylvania’s progress – in our reporting and success stories – toward our water quality goals as we work with other jurisdictions in the Chesapeake Bay Program Partnership.”

Public Safety

Mike’s inspiration to run for office is based on his belief that too many legislators are busy protecting their job rather than doing their job. He brings to the State House integrity, humility, years of leadership and business experience, and a strong work ethic inherited from his parents. Mike will continually push for a return to citizen government, specifically, term limits, restrictions on personal gifts from lobbyists, and a part-time legislature like that of 40 other states. He is already leading by example in pledging to support term limits, to not accept personal gifts from lobbyists, and to refuse a government pension and per diems.
