HARRISBURG – Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) today voted against House Bill 2400, the General Fund budget, saying the spending plan continues Pennsylvania’s pattern of deficit spending while relying on accounting maneuvers to mask the Commonwealth’s worsening financial condition.

“This is another structurally deficit budget that spends more than Pennsylvania is expected to take in,” Grimm Krupa said. “Instead of making the difficult decisions necessary to live within our means, the majority chose accounting gimmicks designed to make the budget appear more balanced than it truly is.”

Proposes allowing dyed diesel on Pennsylvania public highways when federal law or a presidential order authorizes its use.

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) today announced the filing of a co-sponsorship memorandum for legislation that would ensure Pennsylvania takes the necessary action to maximize newly available federal diesel relief for the Commonwealth’s farmers, truckers, small businesses and other diesel users.

Krupa’s proposed legislation would amend Pennsylvania law to expressly permit the use of dyed diesel fuel on Pennsylvania public highways whenever that use is authorized under federal law or an executive order issued by the president, for the duration of the federal authorization.

The legislation would also direct the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue to establish an alternative notice requirement for periods when dyed diesel is legally permitted for highway use and provide protections for fuel sellers who sell or deliver dyed diesel for highway use when that use is federally authorized.

A One-Vote Margin on a Matter of Life

I spoke on the House floor against House Bill 1957, which would allow abortion up to the moment of birth. None of our God-given rights is more sacred than our right to life. But this bill would make it legal to end the life of an unborn baby, even after it could survive outside the womb. I can't support the intentional ending of a human life, especially those that cannot speak for themselves. Unfortunately, the majority of my colleagues refused to defend unborn babies' right to exist. This bill passed 102-101.

“Funding CTE is essential because it prepares students with the real-world skills needed for high-demand careers, strengthens the workforce and supports local economic growth” Grimm Krupa said. “By investing in CTE, we give students meaningful pathways to success – whether they choose to enter the workforce, pursue apprenticeships or continue their education – while ensuring employers have access to well-trained, job ready talent.”

“Freedom has never been free, and the families of our military heroes know that better than most,” said Grimm Krupa, R-Fayette. “When a parent makes the extraordinary sacrifice of serving our nation, that sacrifice is intimately felt by their children as well. I am proud to support this legislation because expanding this educational benefit is a meaningful way to honor that sacrifice and tell these families that Pennsylvania remembers, appreciates and stands with them. We can never fully repay those who have sacrificed to protect our freedom, but we can help give their children the opportunity to build a bright future.”

Current law, which has not been updated for nearly 40 years, allows the children of veterans with extraordinary service records to receive $500 in tuition assistance for higher education per semester. This new proposal would triple that support to $1,500 per semester and cover gaps in eligibility for federal or state tuition assistance.

“This is about more than a transmission line,” said Grimm Krupa. “This second application could impact every property owner in Pennsylvania by giving a private, out-of-state company the authority to take land for projects that may not benefit our communities. The MARL project itself is designed to move electricity out of our region to serve demand in the Washington, D.C., area. At a time when grid reliability is already a growing concern, exporting power out of Pennsylvania raises serious questions about the potential for increased strain on our system and the risk of higher costs and reduced reliability for Pennsylvania consumers.”

“It is critical that people understand what is at stake and take advantage of this opportunity to make their voices heard,” she added.
