Calls for exploring alternatives before imposing additional taxes, citing the effect of property taxes on residents.

On the county level, she has been concerned that spiraling property taxes are negatively impacting residents, and wants to prevent that from happening on the state level. “We need to look at every avenue before we try to implement more taxes. They are taxing people right out of their homes,” she said.

Healthcare

Plans to seek more teachers and fewer administrators in schools.

Other areas she would work on in Harrisburg are the loss of volunteer first responders, health care in the county following the sinking of Crozer Health, and more teachers and less administrators in schools. “A bigger school does not make smarter children. Teach them,” she said.

Education

Opposes data centers when they compete with people for resources or negatively affect children.

She said taxpayers deserve answers on how much additional electricity and water will be consumed, and about who will pay for the electrical grid upgrades and infrastructure. “If it comes down to people or data centers, the data center has got to go. We don’t want them. We don’t need to lose the people and children to all this technology,” she said.

McCleary is speaking out about her concerns about data centers, which she noted can require enormous amounts of electricity and significant amounts of water for cooling. She said taxpayers deserve answers on how much additional electricity and water will be consumed, and about who will pay for the electrical grid upgrades and infrastructure.

Opposes Pennsylvania House Bill 1042, which would affect early releases from prison for certain murder convictions.

One proposed state law that she opposes is PA house bill 1042, which would impact early prison releases for certain murder convictions. “When people commit serious crimes, you don’t just release them,” McCleary said.
