"Survivors of military trauma, whether it be stress-related, a brain injury or sexual assault, carry those experiences with them long after their service ends, and the effects can last for years," Scheuren said. "We owe it to our veterans to ensure the professionals they turn to for help are equipped to recognize their needs and connect them with the resources they deserve. I'm proud this legislation is now law." The new law, Act 38 of 2026, amends Pennsylvania law by establishing a training program for county veterans affairs directors on trauma-informed care, including military sexual trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.

With inflation and high gas prices affecting the working class, struggling families and seniors on fixed incomes, Donna knows reducing taxes and investing in infrastructure is a must to bring about energy independence. Having a strong work ethic herself, she’d emphasize investment in the trades and more tech schools throughout the state to keep our greatest asset in the Commonwealth – our workforce.

North Montco Technical Career Center and Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center each will receive $85,000, the maximum amount available, to update or purchase equipment for training of students in approved career and technical education programs. “At a time when technical and skilled trades jobs are in short supply, investing in high quality training programs is essential,” Scheuren said. “This funding strengthens hands on learning opportunities and helps ensure a strong, well prepared workforce for the future.”

"When we invest in our schools, we are making a commitment that every student and educator be given a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, grow and succeed,” Scheuren noted. “When schools implement security enhancements and are better equipped to address behavioral needs, the entire community benefits."

“This grant will allow for multiple critical upgrades to the well pump in this area, which are necessary to preserve water quality here in the 147th,” said Scheuren. “It’s an investment of nearly $1 million and helps to ensure our water remains safe. This is an important issue, and working closely with Sen. Pennycuick, we secured this vital funding together.”

HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) announced today that Lower Salford Township has been awarded a Growing Greener program grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Growing Greener projects generally focus on restoring streams, watershed improvements or addressing water pollution from abandoned mine drainage. In this instance, the grant is going toward the Briarwyck Park Stream Restoration Project and will total $164,000. “This is excellent news for Lower Salford Township,” said Scheuren. “Our community leaders have been hard at work to restore the stream at Briarwyck Park, and this DEP funding will help to ensure the project moves forward.”

“Protecting open spaces across the district continues to be one of my biggest priorities, and I am thrilled to see that additional acreage continues to be preserved,” Scheuren said. “With these farms in New Hanover and Franconia townships now secured, we will soon reach 900 acres that will be forever preserved in the 147th District.” Through the Farmland Preservation Program, development rights are purchased from willing landowners to ensure preserved farms remain dedicated to agricultural use and are protected from future residential or commercial development.

As an advocate for strong and safe communities, she believes in policies that hold criminals accountable for their actions and programs that support local police, fire, and EMS with retention and recruitment services to help them stabilize.

HARRISBURG – Legislation sponsored by Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) that would increase penalties for individuals found guilty of trafficking infants has earned approval by the House Judiciary Committee and now goes to the full House for consideration. Under current law, an individual who engages in human trafficking by recruiting, harboring, transporting, or providing someone under the age of 18 to engage in “forced labor or services” can be charged with a felony of the first degree. Scheuren’s bill, if passed into law, would specifically state that those who traffic infants will be subject to that same felony of the first-degree grading, rather than the current first-degree misdemeanor offense.

Scheuren Bill to Strengthen Human Trafficking Penalties Earns Committee Approval

The Senate responded with Senate Bill 1400, bipartisan legislation which would establish a constitutional sentencing framework for second-degree murder while creating a structured parole process that preserves accountability and strengthens victims' rights during parole proceedings. “Every day this critical public safety legislation remains stalled is another day that victims' families are left waiting for the certainty and accountability they deserve,” Scheuren said. “I am urging the House Judiciary Committee to give Senate Bill 1400 the consideration it merits and move it forward for a full vote."
