Tim Twardzik serves as secretary of the board of directors of Lehigh Valley Health System – Schuylkill. He previously worked as executive vice president and co-owner of Ateeco Inc.

Tim currently serves in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He was elected for the 2021, 2023, and 2025 terms and is serving his third term.

In 2025, Twardzik’s House Bill 1103 (Act 16 of 2025) became law to give borrowers greater flexibility in the mortgage process, enabling consumers to reduce their interest rates and monthly mortgage payments.

About Tim Twardzik

Shared appreciation agreements are contracts in which a homeowner receives funds in exchange for granting a third party a future interest in the appreciation, equity or value of their home. The legislation, House Bill 2120, would add shared equity agreements to current laws that provide statutory safeguards for other home-secured financial products, such as residential mortgages. The legislation would require shared equity agreements to meet disclosure requirements, foreclosure protections and remedies for violations. Under a shared equity agreement, the more a home appreciates, the more the homeowner must pay to satisfy the contract, often far exceeding the amount originally received.

“As co-chair of the bipartisan Pennsylvania Housing Caucus, I supported this legislation because Pennsylvanians deserve clear, straightforward information when entering complex financial agreements tied to their homes,” said Twardzik. “‘Home Sweet Home’ should not become ‘Home Sweet Homeless.’ This bill strengthens transparency and establishes important safeguards to protect homeowners while still allowing responsible innovation in the housing finance market.”

Committed to tackling blight in Schuylkill County, Twardzik introduced legislation to establish the Vacant Property Registration Act. This initiative would allow communities to create and maintain a vacant property registration program, a smart growth tool to stabilize and revitalize neighborhoods. As co-chairman of the Housing Caucus, he continues to promote access to safe, stable and affordable housing.

Spearheaded Act 11 of 2023 to enforce tobacco companies' settlement commitments to fund care for smoking-related illnesses and youth tobacco education.

Twardzik spearheaded Act 11 of 2023 to ensure tobacco companies continue honoring their commitments under the 2003 Tobacco Product Manufacturer Directory Act Master Settlement Agreement. This agreement funds health care for individuals with smoking-related illnesses and educates youth on the dangers of tobacco use.

Healthcare

“This investment ensures students at Schuylkill Technology Center have access to the tools and training they need to succeed after graduation,” said Twardzik. “Career and technical education is critical to building a strong local workforce and preparing students for good-paying jobs.”

Schuylkill Technology Center will use the grant to enhance instructional equipment, including upgrades in automotive technology and welding programs and expanding hands-on training opportunities that prepare students for careers in the skilled trades and other high-demand industries.

Education

“Investments like this are a strong step toward keeping Pennsylvania manufacturing competitive and growing,” Twardzik said. “By helping local businesses modernize operations, improve efficiency and lower costs, this funding strengthens our workforce, supports good-paying jobs and reinforces the long-term economic strength of our communities. The MBA Northeast plant in Frackville is the Mid-Atlantic manufacturing hub for commercial steel framing, supplying projects across Pennsylvania and extending throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic within a one-day trucking radius.”

MBA Building Supplies, a steel framing product manufacturing facility located in West Mahanoy Township, received $580,536 through the RISE PA program to install a new solar system, purchase an electrified forklift and install energy-efficient lighting.

Energy & the Environment

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) issued the following statement in response to a local fire company being cited by the state for accepting credit card payments through an online fundraiser:

“Pennsylvania’s volunteer firefighters put their lives on the line for our communities, and they should not be penalized for using modern tools to raise money to keep their firehouses operating.

“A local fire company was recently cited by the state for accepting credit card payments through an online fundraiser. This is exactly the kind of unnecessary obstacle that we need to remove.

“Last March, I co-sponsored House Bill 962 to help Pennsylvania’s volunteer fire companies conduct legitimate fundraising and better serve their communities. Unfortunately, the legislation has not been considered by the House Gaming Oversight Committee.

“Our volunteer fire companies are struggling to recruit members and raise the funds necessary to maintain equipment, facilities and emergency response capabilities. We should be making it easier, not harder, for them to succeed.

“Pennsylvania needs to stand with its volunteer heroes. I will continue working to advance House Bill 962 and other common-sense measures that give our fire companies the tools they need to protect our communities.”
