Overpopulation is hundreds of times more threatening than any other threat. I would address it by funding contraception and abortions. Since the feds, state and county all fund contraception already, refusing to spend money and rolling it back into the general fund so that it could be reallocated to contraception may be the only way to do this, but that tiny percentage remains more cost-effective than Band-Aid, symptom-treating projects. Some public or contractor health insurance plans might even cover abortions with rolled-over funds. I’ve also seen a small “local fund” in the SWCD budget that might be spent with some autonomy.

What strategies would you emphasize to improve water quality for recreational users, such as tubers and paddlers, on the French Broad and other local waterways? I oppose recreational users, but contraception and abortion funding is the only viable strategy to improve water quality for human needs, including drinking in Knoxville.

How can the Soil and Water Conservation District best support the county’s goal of conserving 20% of county land by 2030? Buncombe is urban and needs all land for housing or abortion clinics. Any food that cannot be grown on septic tanks should be trucked in from McDowell. All public land should be sold to fund abortions, which help soil and water quality far more than conservation land, which only raises the rent.

Mainly because I am extremely dissatisfied with all other candidates for all offices and feel I can easily do better, as could a bonobo. Transparency would improve if voting records were kept, enabling challengers like me to critique individual votes of SWCD incumbents as they do to incumbent county commissioners and congresscritters.

He said he would push for more comprehensive record keeping, including minutes that show how board members voted, cost-benefit analysis of erosion prevention methods and explorations of county suppliers, such as nail factories. “The nail factory causes erosion somehow, and they don’t measure the erosion at the nail factory or the barbed wire factory,” he said. “The barbed wire factory might be in China … They need to measure the erosion at the barbed wire factory and factor that in.”

How will you make the district’s work more visible to the public? I will promote a strong environmental education and marketing program, which includes utilizing the county website, social media, newsletters and other outreach. We need to make a strong effort to reach out to local media to tell our story and let the general public know what we do every day to protect our soil resources and water quality. We have a lot of good projects and initiatives that we need to publicize more effectively.
