Following a thorough investigation, 44-year-old Anthony Wayne Street from Brunswick County was arrested and charged on Friday afternoon with communicating threats to a legislative agent or court official. He was booked into the Brunswick County Jail with a secured bond set at $2,000.

Street currently serves on the Brunswick County Soil and Water Conservation District Board after being elected last November. In a public statement, Brunswick Chair Commissioner Mike Forte addressed Street’s arrest.

It is not known what, if any, connection Street has to the shrimping industry. He has run for political office before, including an unsuccessful run for N.C. state auditor in 2020.
