Biography

Archie Griffin has been a member of the District's Board of Supervisors since 2018. Archie graduated from North Carolina State University in 2012 with a B.S. in Plant and Soil Sciences and in 2017 from East Carolina University with a Masters of Business Administration. Mr. Griffin actively participates in his family's farming operation, Griffin Farms Inc., where he serves as Vice-President of Operations.

In 2016 Mr. Griffin was appointed to and currently serves on the board for North Carolina Crop Improvement. He was selected as a 2018 Nuffield International Farming Scholar, giving him the opportunity to travel extensively internationally to research agriculture practices and agriculture policy. Mr. Griffin is the son of Pam and Steve Griffin and currently resides on the outskirts of Washington in the Old Ford community.

Biography

Archie Griffin has been a member of the District's Board of Supervisors since 2018. Archie graduated from North Carolina State University in 2012 with a B.S. in Plant and Soil Sciences and in 2017 from East Carolina University with a Masters of Business Administration.

The District is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, with three officials elected by voters in the general election and two officials appointed by the North Carolina Soil and Water Conservation Commission. The elected officials are James Allen, of Pantego, Archie Griffin, of Washington, and Tracy Warren, of Chocowinity.

Archie has been an elected member of the Beaufort Soil and Water Conservation District's Board of Supervisors since 2018.

2026 North Carolina General Election

Seeks to avoid synthetic fertilizer through byproducts from an anaerobic digester and calls anaerobic digestion a solution for agriculture.

Installing an anaerobic digester. Another of Archie’s goals is to avoid synthetic fertilizer use on the farm and to use byproducts of the digester in multiple ways. This is another part of the circular farming model where everything gets used.

The anaerobic digester and other circular farming models that Archie is implementing on his farm are based on operations in England and are relatively new on farms not only in North Carolina but across the country. “I believe it’s a solution for the agricultural industry,” explains Archie.

Implements irrigation and runoff collection to support water retention and regenerative agriculture on his farm.

Implementing wise water use. Water retention and regenerative agriculture are top of mind when it comes to being mindful of prized natural resources. The farm is in the process of setting up an irrigation system, including a system to collect water runoff for irrigation.
