Danny is currently the sheriff of Guilford County. He was first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. He previously ran for sheriff in 2014 but did not win.

Supports proactive crime-fighting tactics, community policing, and initiatives to reduce drug and gang activity, combat sex trafficking, and address mental health and domestic violence issues.
