Banks Hinceman has a bachelor 27s degree in criminal justice from Lees-McRae College. He and his wife, Renee, have been married for 32 years and have two sons together.

Banks is currently the sheriff of Burke County. He was elected in 2022 and is serving his first term. Before becoming sheriff, he served as a major (chief deputy) for 15 years.

Supports prosecuting drug traffickers and dealers, while using programs like LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion) to help low level drug offenders and users get off of drugs.

Supports increasing pay for Sheriff's Office staff to improve employee recruitment and retention.
