I majored in political science at Wake Forest University, graduating in 1988 with honors and on the dean’s list. I remained at Wake Forest where I enrolled in a joint degree program, earning both a law degree and a Masters of Business Administration.

After graduating from law school in 1992, I returned to my home town and opened a solo law practice in Lexington. Over the course of my career I appeared in many different courts gaining experience in a wide variety of legal areas.

My family and I are deeply invested in our community. I currently serve as secretary on the board of Davidson Medical Ministries. My wife of 24 years, Eryn, my two children (ages 19 and 10), and I attend First Baptist Church in Lexington.

At First Baptist I became an ordained Deacon and have served in various capacities over the years. Most significantly Eryn and I lead the youth program.

In addition to my regular practice, for the last 5 years I served as the attorney for the Guardian ad Litem program representing the children of Davidson and Davie Counties removed from their homes by Social Services in situations of abuse, neglect, and dependency.

After nearly three decades in private practice I saw an opportunity to serve our community in a new capacity - as a judge.
