We need a fair, equitable tax system where billionaires and mega-corporations pay the same if not more taxes than policemen, teachers, firefighters, and nurses. Pam believes the Board of Commissioners should strive to represent the geographic, professional, and personal diversity of Burke County so that every resident feels their community has a voice in county government. Public Services

Housing, particularly for low- and middle-income Burke County residents, is in short supply. In what specific ways can federal government help expand housing opportunities in Burke? I am running a federal race not for state government but I can answer this question. Not only in Burke County, but in every county in District 14, residents are feeling the housing crisis.

We need to build more work force housing, renovate and expand public housing, provide more starter homes for first time homeowners and take a serious look at our senior housing crisis. Congress can limit purchase of land and homes by out of state (and out of the country) corporate investors that have no experience, or roots in our communities, driving rental prices through the roof, and making home ownership out of reach for so many. We can also offer support for first time home buyers.

Genant: I would support banning high powered, dangerous guns like assault style weapons. I am an Army Veteran and I know how dangerous those weapons are. I would also support investments in school safety and security resources. Our children should be safe in school.
