Nayma Silver-Matos earned her bachelor's degree in Spanish from Syracuse University. She has volunteered with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, Dare to Run, Inc, and the Manhattan Community Board. 

Nayma is a public speaker and the executive director of The Project Beauty Experience, Inc., where she has worked since 2014. She previously worked as a community organizer and advocate for social justice issues. She also worked as an organizer for Dominicanos USA in New York from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, she has provided consulting services for the US House of Representatives, the New York City Department of Education, and J.P. Morgan Chase.

Nayma is currently a member of the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 34th Legislative District. She was first elected in 2021. She previously ran for New York State Assembly member in 2022 but did not win.
