Stefani is a community builder and an advocate for working families, civil rights, and equity. She leads the Underground Reading Railroad literacy program, supports Age Friendly Central Brooklyn, Inc., and spearheads Power Up: Youth Leading Change, a civic engagement curriculum for young people. She also works on economic development initiatives, including the creation of a Central Brooklyn Innovation Center. 

Stefani is currently a member of the New York State Assembly representing Brooklyn's 56th Assembly District. She was first elected in 2020 and is currently serving her second term.
