Aber Kawas is from Brooklyn, New York. She earned her bachelor's degree in international studies from The City College of New York. 

Aber is the associate director of partnerships at CUNY CLEAR, where she provides legal representation and support for people affected by national security and counterterrorism policies and practices. She previously worked at the Arab American Association, where she helped pass the Community Safety Act, which established new protections against police profiling and increased transparency for the NYPD. Aber also volunteered on Pastor Khader El-Yateem's campaign for New York City Council and worked with Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani's office.

Aber currently works as the associate director of partnerships at the Creating Law Enforcement Accountability CUNY Law School, an organizer at Not on Our Dime Campaign, and a co-chair and steering committee member at the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights.
