John is a district court judge for Kentucky's 8th District Court. He was appointed by Governor Ernie Fletcher in 2007. Before taking the bench, John was an attorney with Hughes & Coleman, PLC. He also served as an assistant commonwealth's attorney in Warren County from 1994 to 2001 and as a special assistant U.S. attorney from 1997 to 2001. 

John is currently a district court judge for the 8th District Court, which presides over Warren County in Kentucky. He was appointed by Governor Ernie Fletcher in February 2007 and was later re-elected by voters in 2010 and 2014. His term expired in 2019.
